If you would like to install air conditioning in the habitation area of you VW Grand California, it is worth baring in mind that there are different roof configurations. The VW Grand California can have an additional rooflight installed in the rear bed area of the van, this is the same place as the aircon would normally be installed. On a recent install we came across this problem. We never like to admit defeat, so we began measuring the central corridor area in the van. I became apparent that the Dometic Fresh Jet 2200 diffuser would fit in this area, there was also just enough space on the roof to squeeze in the aircon unit. We cut a new hole in the roof and built a frame to allow the installation.
